Defend YOUR country in the World Golfers Championship

World Golfers Championship (WGC) begins as a National Championship divided into five handicap flights.

Winners 2006The winner from each flight in the national championships (qualifiers) becomes part of the 5-person national team and also gets to defend their flight individually in the world final.

If a winner can't participate, the first capable runner-up takes his/her place to ensure a complete national team!

Qualifiers vary between countries but the general WGC concept begins at club level and works its way up through regional finals to national finals, then at last to the world final!

  • WGC was founded in 1995
  • Arnold Palmer is WGC’s Tournament Patron and Severiano Ballesteros is Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Board
  • WGC world final is played over 72 holes (like professional PGA tournaments)
  • WGC complies with USGA and R&A amateur rules 4:2 (ii) as a team event, consisting of one player in each of the following handicap categories: 0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25
  • WGC is the largest amateur championship involving thousands of golfers in over 40 countries
  • WGC is the amateur golfers’ championship available to everyone with a registered handicap
